Research Area NOVEL FUNCTIOANLIZED METAL ORGANIC FRAMEWORKS FOR CO2 CPATURE
Area of Interest Metal-organic frameworks are a new class of porous solids that have attracted much recent attention owing to their potential applications in various areas, including gas storage, molecular separations, and heterogeneous catalysis. Carbon dioxide capture and storage are now being vigorously investigated to combat global climate change. From an applications point of view, their extraordinary surface areas, finely tunable pore surface properties, and potential scalability to industrial scale have made these materials an attractive target for CO2 capture studies. We are synthesizing novel carboxylate- based long chain organic linkers with amine functionalization for MOF synthesis with a new topology. The synthesized MOF was characterized and used for CO2 adsorption. Our aim is that the synthesized MOF will be highly stable in water and temperature, the easiest synthetic route, and it give a high yield. We are trying to adsorb the CO2 at a high temperature.
